Sunday Facial Mask Day – Rodial Stemcell Super-Food Cleanser

TJP_9272TJP_9273Declaring Sunday my official facial mask day! Tonight, I tried the Rodial Stemcell Super-Food Cleanser – 2-in-1 cleanser and mask for dehydrated skin with stem cells rose hip and vitamin e. The sample comes in a generous 1.7oz pale eggplant colored jar.

The scent of the product reminds me of a Lancome moisturizer and it looks and feels like a moisturizer as well, very smooth, silky, and creamy. The scent is lightly airily floral, normally I can’t handle florals, but this one I can actually tolerate. The description from Ulta:

“Rodial’s Stemcell Super-food cleanser is, a nourishing dual-action cleansing cream with advanced stem cell technology, from the PhytoCellTec Alp Rose. The potent super-food complex of anti-oxidants, coconut oil, rose hip oil, rose wax and cocoa butter gently cleanses and feeds essential nutrients to the skin for instant relief to dehydrated complexions. When massaged into the skin with the 100% cotton muslin cloth, the gentle exfoliation enables younger-looking skin to be revealed, boosting skin’s vitality for a visible glow.”

I tried to access Rodial’s site to get their actual description, but it wanted me to sign up for their newsletter before doing anything at all on their site. I would go ahead and do that, but they really should give you an option to choose whether or not you want to rather than forcing it. The close button on that popup did nothing — might just be my browser though.  Update: I tried again and Rodial’s website let me through without signup this time. The full-size jar, 6.8oz, is £32 (this is a UK based company; little over $34USD) on their site and $40 via Ulta (online only).

TJP_9297The directions were to massage a small amount onto dry face and neck and rinse with warm water or use a muslin cloth (my guessing is that a cloth is included with a full-size jar, but it’s not with the sample) to wipe away the cream.

It’s not really a “mask”, per se, where you leave it on for X amount of TJP_9302minutes. With it being so silky, smooth and creamy, like I mentioned earlier, I don’t see how this offers any exfoliation, but maybe it’s on a micro-nano-level. After washing it off, my skin did feel smooth and soft. The one thing I was looking for was it to feel hydrated, as from what I gathered with the description that was one of their main points, unfortunately, I still felt like I needed a night-time moisturizer or my skin would start to get drier. I followed up with that Biossance, I mentioned in a previous post, and it looks to be the beginning of a great pairing – but only time will tell. (Biossance on the lips feels great, btw. Tad oily, but nice and moisturized. Maybe it’ll be the one product that helps my lips defeat the dratted dry/chappiness that they’ve been perpetually plagued with.)

I am willing to continue using this product to see how it goes until the jar is empty, then I can make a decision whether to purchase this one or not.

Tagging this and all future mask days as: #sundayfacialmaskday
